December 17, 2010 ARCHIE'S CHRISTMAS TALE PARTNERSHIP WITH ORANGE COUNTY CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT MENTORS AT CHEROKEE SCHOOL

Marjorie Carris and her company, Cherokee Star Publishing, partnered with the Orange County Corrections Department to bring copies of ARCHIE’S CHRISTMAS TALE to all 52 students at Cherokee School. Cherokee School is a special school for “high risk” students. Attending the holiday program were all Cherokee Students and teachers, Author Marjorie W. Carris, Chief Tidwell and the dedicated mentors from the Orange County Corrections Department, Orange County Commissioner Elect Jennifer Thompson, Story Reader Grandma Hinkle, plus Santa Clause & Mrs. Santa. Every child had their picture taken with Santa as they received their very own, personalized, autographed copy of ARCHIE’S CHRISTMAS TALE.

The Orange County CORRECTIONS CHRONICLE reports, “… Marjorie told the children there are two lessons in the book. One, to always let a parent know where you will be at all times, and two to always get permission before you go exploring, because danger is out there for children and adults. She told them to write their own stories, tell their own tales, and to be their own hero – to have faith in themselves.”

November/December 2010   ARCHIE'S CHRISTMAS TALE is partnering with the Orlando Museum of Art for a second year. The book will be available at all special events, in the gift shop, for all of November and December.

9-08-09  ARCHIE'S CHRISTMAS TALE earned a Folk Art Merit Award at the 2009 Orlando Fiesta in the Park event and sold 60 copies in just 2 days.
